Pawsitive Pet Care has been proudly serving the Cedar Valley for over 70 years!
Our History
Our hospital, originally called “Veterinary Hospital,” was founded by Dr. Moeller in the 1940s. Located on Sycamore Street in Waterloo, he took care of animals both big and small. In the early 1950s, Drs. Winegarden and Guldner joined the practice and Dr. Moeller retired. The growing practice moved from Sycamore Street to 11th Street in 1960.

By 1975, the hospital added Dr. Reilly to meet the increasing need for veterinary care. The Iowa DOT began building Highway 218 in the 1980s and purchased the property that “Veterinary Hospital” was located on. In 1987, Drs. Winegarden, Guldner, and Reilly bought a new facility at 400 Jefferson Street downtown.

Dr. Bradley Kneeland joined the practice, which was renamed “Veterinary Associates,” in 1993. Pawsitive Pet Care was added as a second location at 3257 West 4th Street, near where the Ansborough Avenue Hyvee is now located. Drs. Winegarden and Guldner retired in the late 1990s.

The Iowa DOT was at it again in 1999, when they purchased the Jefferson Street location to build the Expo Plaza. Drs. Reilly and Kneeland moved to the West 4th Street location and began caring just for dogs, cats, and small exotics.

In May 2008, Pawsitive Pet Care moved to our current location at 1799 Ansborough Avenue. Dr. Reilly retired in 2009. We’ve continued to learn and grow over the years, adding services such as ultrasound, digital radiology, acupuncture, cold laser therapy, allergy management, and more! Our latest addition is associate veterinarian Dr. Rebecca Chadwick, who joined the practice in 2017.

Bradley Kneeland, DVM

Dr. Kneeland's Bio
Born and raised right here in Waterloo, Dr. Kneeland worked for PPC as a kennel assistant in high school. He attended Iowa State University and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. He then rejoined the PPC team as a veterinarian.

Dr. Kneeland loves all aspects of his job, and couldn’t possibly pick a favorite! He lives in Waterloo with his wife, Jen, their children, a Boston Terrier, and three cats. When he is not at the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.

Rebecca Chadwick, DVM

Dr. Chadwick's Bio
Born and raised in New York, Dr. Chadwick knew she wanted to work with animals from a young age. She attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2014. She became an associate at PPC in 2017.

Dr. Chadwick’s favorite cases are exotic animals, dermatology (the icky-er the better!), and geriatric care. She lives in Cedar Falls with her husband, Seth, and their two rescue cats, Eve and Zan. Outside of work, Dr. Chadwick enjoys gardening, riding her horse Tico, and doing DIY projects with Seth.

Jess' Bio
Jess is an Iowa native who graduated from Kirkwood Community College’s Veterinary Technology program in 2003. She worked at a veterinary hospital in Des Moines for 6 years before moving to Waterloo and joining the Pawsitive Pet Care team in 2009.

Jess loves spoiling all the fury kids that walk in the door. Her favorite part of her job is dental prophies (teeth cleaning), monitoring surgeries, and working with exotic patients. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors with family and friends. She has two cats, Frito Burrito Lay and Luke, as well as many foster kittens.

Christie's Bio
Christie is from the small town of Clutier, Iowa. She received her Certified Veterinary Technician license form Kirkwood Community College in 2013. She joined the PPC team in 2017. She is currently working on applying to veterinary school.

Christie’s interests are spending time with family, her boyfriend and friends, horseback riding, fishing, and anything outdoors. She lives in the country and has several horses, dogs, and cats. She says, ‘It’s very hard to choose my favorite because each and every pet holds a special place and means the world to me!’

Hospital Administrator
Deb's Bio
Deb is another Iowa native who has been with Pawsitive Pet Care the longest. She started as Hospital Manager in 1978! She’s seen PPC go through many changes, including 3 different buildings and switching from a mixed animal practice (horses and cows as well as dogs and cats) to small animal only. She’s got great stories to share!

At home, Deb enjoys the company of her two boxers, Jed and Griffin. When not pampering her critters, Deb is pampering her two sons and 7 grandchildren. Her other favorite activities include traveling, working outside, and shopping.

Allie's Bio
I have been around animals my whole life. I am happy to work at PPC because I get to make a difference in pet’s lives every day.

I have two animals right now, but I’d love to have a lot more! My dog is a lab/pit bull mix named Mya who I rescued when she was 8 weeks old. My cat is all black and named Sir Slinks A Lot (aka Slinky) who used to be a farm kitty.

Fun Fact: I love German Shepherds and someday want to have a German Shepherd rescue.

Brittney's Bio
Growing up I’ve always had a soft spot for all animals. I knew that working with them was always something I wanted to do – that it’s my purpose in life to try and save animals to the best of my ability. Joining the PPC team helps me accomplish that. I love all of our unique patients and being able to help in some way, shape, or form – even if it’s just some belly rubs. And of course, our team is awesome!

I have three Pomeranians named Boots, Teemo, and Ziggs. I also have a sugar glider named Rafiki that I adopted. They all mean the world to me!

Fun Fact: I am a HUGE nerd. I love video games, comic books, and cosplay conventions!

Serinity's Bio
I chose PPC because of the friendly environment and my love of animals. Everyone is a joy to work with and I look forward to seeing every animal that comes in.

Do you have any pets? I have a kitten that I adopted from PPC. His name is Bristow and he’s such a sweetheart! He was found in a garage as a kitten and bottle fed by Jess.

Fun Fact: I love to draw and do graphic design.

Keunnen's Bio
I decided to work at Pawsitive Pet Care because they had a great atmosphere and I had heard a lot of good things about them. I work as an assistant in the kennels and sometimes help the technicians. I have two black kitties: Zack, who is 7 years old, and Ace, who is a year old. I enjoy spending time with my cats and reading a good book.
How may we help you?
Dr. Kneeland, Dr. Chadwick, and the rest of the PPC team look forward to keeping your pet happy and healthy throughout their entire life. Pawsitive Pet Care is conveniently located on Ansborough Avenue, next to Veridian Credit Union and across from the Waterloo Dog Park.
